Recently, I've been very stressed out about the idea of applying to college, picking a college, picking a major, and really just preparing for the next chapter of my life. I have a million questions running through my mind but I've gotten many answers from my counselor and from the College Board's college preparation plan.
Just a couple weeks ago I visited University of Michigan and absolutely loved it. Over spring break I plan to visit Michigan State University and Northwestern University. And over the summer I plan to visit University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Duke University, and Emory University.
As of right now, UofM is my top choice. To get into a university like that requires good grades, good test scores, a good amount of extracurriculars, and a competitive attitude since they get so many suitable applicants.
This spring is the time tests! ACT, SAT, AP exams, SAT subject tests are all taken this spring in preparation for applying to college this summer/fall. Taking all of these tests stresses me out the most. A lot of pressure is put on getting good scores so you have an idea of where you fall in a particular school's average accepted test scores.
The whole process of preparing for college is very stressful but, surprisingly, I've also had fun researching the schools and majors that I'm interested in. I know I still have quite a long way to go until I actually apply to, choose, and go to a college but I'm excited (even with the stress involved) to explore my options for my future.
